Junior Hurlers Promoted!

In a scenario of “it’s in your own hands” the Whitehall Junior Hurlers needed two victories from two matches to guarantee promotion for next season. Thursday evening against Setanta away, Whitehall kept a clean sheet in the second half to complete the first phase of this with a 0-15 to 1-4 victory. The next step was a home match against Parnells, who had lost their previous match against St Sylvesters. This meant that Parnells were desperate for a win. Playing with the wind in the second half, Whitehall stretched a 2 point lead into a 3-12 to 0-6 victory, thus securing automatic promotion next season. Both matches were hard fought and felt much closer than the final score would suggest, but in the true never say die spirit that has encompassed the team this season, players from all over the pitch stood up when challenged to ensure victory. Whitehall move to 9-1 for the season with the only blemish coming against St Oliver Plunketts.
 
Whitehall still have one more league match against Skerries Harps on the 4th of September and then the league final.
